My website does not use any cookies and does not track you in any way. I respect the privacy of my visitors, and neither I nor any third parties keep track of your activity on this website (note, however, that third party services used by the website, such as Disqus for comments, may use their own tracking cookies to allow you to log in and interact with the website).
I may occasionally (once in a few months) run an experiment that allows me to better understand how my visitors use this website and, consequently, make improvements to it. Such an experiment requires setting up tracking cookies for a short period of time, which are completely anonymous, and all data related to your visit are deleted after the experiment has finished.
Amazon Associates Program
This website is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. This means, in particular, that if you follow a link to amazon.com or any other national version of Amazon website and then buy anything within 24 hours, I will receive a small percentage of what you pay to Amazon (but your price will stay exactly the same).
The links to Amazon on this website are mostly links to my own books. When you buy my book on Amazon, a significant portion of what you pay goes directly to Amazon rather than me. By buying my book within 24 hours of clicking on a link to Amazon here, you make a part of Amazon’s royalty share go back to me.
Collection of personal information
I only collect personally identifiable information, such as names or email addresses, when voluntarily submitted by my visitors. This information is only used to fulfil your specific request (e.g. purchasing my books or signing up to my newsletters). I never share any information with third parties, unless required by the law.
Catorcat.com (“Catorcat.com“) operates Catorcat.com and may operate other websites. It is Catorcat.com’s policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating our websites.
Like most website operators, Catorcat.com collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Catorcat.com’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Catorcat.com’s visitors use its website. From time to time, Catorcat.com may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.
Catorcat.com also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on Catorcat.com blogs/sites. Catorcat.com only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below, except that commenter IP addresses and email addresses are visible and disclosed to the administrators of the blog/site where the comment was left.
Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information
Certain visitors to Catorcat.com’s websites choose to interact with Catorcat.com in ways that require Catorcat.com to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that Catorcat.com gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who sign up at Catorcat.com to provide a username and email address. Those who engage in transactions with Catorcat.com are asked to provide additional information, including as necessary the personal and financial information required to process those transactions. In each case, Catorcat.com collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with Catorcat.com. Catorcat.com does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.
Catorcat.com may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its websites. Catorcat.com may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, Catorcat.com does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.
Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information
Catorcat.com discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on Catorcat.com’s behalf or to provide services available at Catorcat.com’s websites, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. Some of those employees, contractors and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using Catorcat.com’s websites, you consent to the transfer of such information to them. Catorcat.com will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, Catorcat.com discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when Catorcat.com believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of Catorcat.com, third parties or the public at large. If you are a registered user of an Catorcat.com website and have supplied your email address, Catorcat.com may occasionally send you an email to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with what’s going on with Catorcat.com and our products. If you send us a request (for example via email or via one of our feedback mechanisms), we reserve the right to publish it in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users. Catorcat.com takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.
If Catorcat.com, or substantially all of its assets, were acquired, or in the unlikely event that Catorcat.com goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any acquirer of Catorcat.com may continue to use your personal information as set forth in this policy.
